What is coaching?

Coaching is a conscious, co-created partnership that helps you focus and realize your visions and goals. With a Professional Coach, you will develop the tools and support to remove obstacles and facilitate the change you want to see in your life.

How done coaching is done?

Most individual coaching is done over the phone. This gives the greatest flexibility for scheduling and also lets you choose an environment where you feel most comfortable. I typically work in cycles of six sessions, done every other week. To create profound changes in your life, I request at least a commitment of one cycle/six sessions. After the first cycle, we can design another until you feel ready to stop. I work with most clients from 4–6 months.

What happens in a typical session?

The hallmark of coaching is self-responsibility. The client sets the agenda for the call and the coach follows that agenda. You can expect powerful and clarifying questions, focused and fine-tuned planning tools, and accountability. We'll talk. We'll have fun. We'll work hard. We'll do creative and fun activities to support you to step out of your comfort zone and see things from a new perspective. We'll identify obstacles in your way and develop strategies to get past them. We'll set goals and design accountability to support you to achieve them. If an approach we're trying isn't working for you, you always have the right to say that you want to try something else and we'll choose a new approach. As your coach, I’ll have high expectations of you and support you thoroughly. We'll accomplish a lot during a coaching session, but most of the work happens between sessions when you are exploring and deepening new awareness and taking steps to accomplish your goals.

Is coaching therapy?

No, coaching is not therapy. Coaching focuses on strategic planning and personal growth and does not attempt to heal emotional trauma. Coaches regularly refer clients to other professionals for issues that are better suited to a therapeutic relationship. Coaching is often a great complement to therapy.

How do I get started?

It’s easy! Email me to arrange a free introductory session and we’ll talk about whether coaching is right for you. If the connection is right, and you decide you want to move on to the next step, we’ll schedule your discovery session. Before your discovery session I'll send you some self-assessment tools for you to complete and return. Then the real fun and transformation begins!
